Three Card Poker (also known as tricard poker), is an exciting poker based game that actually consists of two games: pairsplus and ante-and-play. Players can bet on one or both of these games (pairsplus or ante-and-play). Three Card Poker, as the name suggests involves making the best poker hand with 3 cards.

The pairsplus game is the simpler of the two as you solely bet on your cards, with a pair or better paying out regardless of what the dealer has. The Ante-and-play game involves you placing an ante before any cards are dealt. Once you have placed the ante, the dealer will give you 3 cards, while dealing himself three cards face down. You then have two options: either fold or raise. The optimal strategy here is that if you have anything higher than Q/6/4, then you should make the raise (which must be equivalent to the ante). If you decide to fold, you lose the hand (but reduce your loses as you don’t have to raise). Once you have made your decision, the dealer’s cards are turned over and they require a hand with queen high or better to “qualify”. There are a few possible outcomes: If the dealer’s hand does not qualify you win even money on the ante bet and the raise will be a push. If the dealer does qualify, the hands are compared with the better hand winning.
