Bovada Casino was launched on Dec 14th, 2011 as the replacement brand to Bodog, a well known Casino, Sportsbook and Poker room. Bovada Casino is run by the same group (Morris Mohawk Gaming Group) that ran the US facing Bodog brand and Bovada.lv is being labelled as simply a brand change.

The name Bovada.lv comes from a combination of "Bo" from Bodog and "vada" from Nevada with the .lv extension appearing to represent Las Vegas (although it's actually the domain extension of Latvia).

Bovada casino uses the same software and products that existed at the Bodog casino so it shouldn't be a surprise to players. The casino software is based on RTG, however the source code was purchased back in 2006 with a few games added since then. They have also included about 40 casino games from the software provider CTXM so players have good options to choose from.

Along with a download and instant play casino, Bovada also offers a poker room and sportsbook and is open to only US players.
